This gift from Paul the other night plus the one I picked up during the holidays gives me a finished company of each the Char B1 and FT17. Very much chuffed as this has been a goal for ages and ages

Some Great War French that I've been neglecting for about a year, Pegasus and Airfix

A selection of old engineer stands out for a touch up, mostly Revell

Undercoated

This is my Great War Russian collection, but I have also used it in a few Russian Civil War games. Ben over at http://benssoldiers.blogspot.co.nz/ has started a RCW project and I thought I'd post a few pictures to show what I have. All of this part of my collection was done in the very early days of my entry into this hobby so much of the paintwork and conversions are quite crude by today's standards. Some of the pictures aren't too flash as I used my wife's Nikon D550 which is fairly unforgiving on the amateur

Based on the HaT Cossack set but includes figures from all sorts of other sets, I even raided my daughters cowboys & Indians for a couple of figures with pistols to represent officers on the command stands

Strelets Russian Lancers. Say what you like about these figures but I think some of their cavalry sets are very good, and collectors are lucky to be able to get them, as I doubt any of the established manufacturers would ever have produced WW1 Russian cavalry

These are true RCW figures by Orion. Very well sculpted in good poses, I think they might be the only RCW figures available in plastic, or at least were at the time of purchase

I have a whole regiment of cavalry

These stands represent dismounted cavalry, I think the figures are Atlantic?

Machinegun stands

This is the infantry brigade. The figures are mostly by HaT though some of the earlier additions include converted Airfix and Revell WW2 Russians as well

Brigade engineers

Machinegun platoons, HaT and a couple of conversions from the days before you could buy Russian support weapons

Trench mortar platoons. They come in two varieties but the rules group them at the 3" level

Some of the earliest conversion attempts I tried, these represent Naval Infantry and are a mixture of all manner of figures from a couple of different eras; a few need their heads reattached :)

Think this is an Austin-Putlov. I got it from a swap-meet and although it was in a pretty sad state it was an excellent addition nonetheless. This is a resin model

Lastly another armoured car, I think by LW of Russia; it ranks up there with some of the worst kits I have ever made in terms of its engineering

As with all of my Great War stuff the rules I use for this period is Command Decision, Over the Top.

Early War Spitfire

Some very minor finishing work but ready for the table. A most remarkable aircraft, with one version or another serving from the 30s to the 50s.

Spitfire - started

Got a chance to start this yesterday, very basic, but a very nicely engineered kit

Finished this yesterday after work, it is the only one I have so far

A very simple metal kit from Britannia Miniatures, goes together nicely and has a reasonable level of detail too

I'd eventually like to get another two or three of these guns, including one from the Matchbox series if possible; think I'll always prefer plastic kits.

Shore Party

Haven't done much lately but did find some time yesterday to finish this stand, which represents between 25-30 men of a RN shore party

CD3 scenarios sometimes include the odd small unit like this. Their effect on any battlefield is minimal to be sure, though it is good to include little details like this to add to the variety. These are Airfix figures from the landing craft set.

A bit of an update on my late war Panzergrenadiers but still a long way to go, with engineers and 120mm mortars still to add

Weapons platoons, which historically would have had four medium machineguns and a pair of 81mm mortars, x1 per company

Bunkers

These are bigger than the pillbox variety, and in CD terms will accommodate two stands

Designed with our WW1 set in mind but they will work for other eras as well

Formidable obstacles these, even once reduced they still count as hard cover

Tarawa, the game part 2

Japanese RHQ at the southern end of their line, this unit was destroyed (as it was historically) by naval gunfire at around 2pm; about turn 7. Figures are Airfix.

This is the rear or the airfield defences, showing the northern Japanese RHQ and the reserve company of infantry attached to them

Marines supported by their light armour

Venerable Airfix Marines in action along the seafront. The yellow markers indicate about 1/3 casualties. The rubble to the left of pictures is a destroyed pillbox

Close quarters fighting around one of the few remaining fortified areas at the southern end of the island

Just inland from Red Beach, the Marines encountered strong resistance from this area around the village and had to wait a turn or two for support to arrive

The support. US aircraft smashed the Japanese positions just about every time it turned up

Losses of armour did not hold up the drive inland.

Marines move past wrecked Japanese armour

The end result of one of the Japanese human wave assaults at the southern end of the island. Several Japanese companies tried this tactic with fairly limited success

Marines on the airfield, not far from the last pockets of Japanese resistance. One of the best games we've ever played. Will post a few more random pictures for you all in a couple of days.

Tarawa, the game, part 1

The first few hours of the invasion

Japanese fortifications

One of the Japanese battalions is reduced to 50% strength as a result of the naval bombardment

First moves

Several US transport vehicles took hits on the run into shore

Japanese bunkers hold up early attempts to establish a foothold on the beach area around the pier. Figures are Italieri, Buffaloes are Airfix

Second wave. Higgins Boats finally able to cross the reef move to reinforce the Marines already ashore

A couple of turns later, heavy landing vessels are also able to contribute

The arrival of some light armour allowed Paul to move his Marines onto their first objective, which was a small village about a 1000 yards inland

Despite being bypassed a few Japanese pillboxes continued to hold up the Marines trying to move ashore, and air support was called in to solve this problem

Japanese armour attempting a counter attack, though without reasonable infantry support it was doomed to failure. Airfix Chi-Ha

Suicide anti-tank stands had more luck, despite being wiped out to a man destroyed a Sherman and a Buffalo

Early moves against the out airfield defences. Japanese figures are Esci.

Somewhere near the Marne

First up from Games Week 2012, a small Franco-German encounter set in the first few weeks of the Great War. The kit is all from my WW1 collection

Dave's German cavalry sets out and quickly locates the advancing French infantry

Part of the German advance. The Germans had six battalions of infantry plus artillery and cavalry to the French five battalions of infantry and artillery

These are actually French Marines but we needed the extra troops so here they are taking up positions in a small wood

Centre positions here, both sides tried to capture and hold the best covered areas which produced some very heavy fighting

German field artillery firing in support of a large attack on a farm that the French had taken earlier

The Farm. The French tried to reach the German artillery a couple of times from here but lacked the numbers in the end, and just contented themselves with small arms exchanges with the Germans in the fields opposite

We only played seven turns but it was good to do something a bit different. Next up, Tarawa.

Been doing a bit of interior design work (with my chainsaw) on the games shed and here is the result; we can now get around the whole table instead of just three sides

I also recovered the actual tabletop and although still far from perfect it is a vast improvement on the old one. Size is 3.8 x 2.2 meters

Games Week Progress

Every year me and Dave get together for a games week; still haven't decided what I'm going to do for my contribution yet. This year Dave is working on a Pacific scenario and the various bits and pieces to go with it.

Dave is working on a shoreline map and has painted the scale onto the base tiles, the landing craft are placed to check for scale

Here is a test fit. Usually we would now measure different areas to get an accurate idea of how many models etc can be placed in a certain area, without having them packed in cheek by jowl and thus inaccurate in terms of man-to-ground-ratio

These are essentially just recon stands but the inclusion of the dog adds +2 to it's spotting roll when looking for hidden enemy units

They are not unique to the US Marine units shown here, as a few other nations also had them included in their Military Police

Smaller company sizes than most US formations of this era but with a reasonable complement of support weaponry

WW1 German Infantry

Been on these off and on for a while now but finally have them close to the finishing stage. Once complete I will have five battalions of infantry and a small cavalry and artillery element also

The infantry include Airfix, HaT, Emhar and Zevezda in the mix. Here is a HaT/Zevezda combination

Another couple of mixed figure platoons. The HaT figures don't quite show the same amount of detail, due, in part at least, to the softer plastic I think

MMG. Awkward to put together but a nice result

Quite a few gaps to fill and minor details to attend to, though should have them complete in a week or so.

Found a little time during the week to finish the support units for my first re-worked para battalion. Based for CD3, most figures have had at least a head-swap. Over the summer holidays I plan to finish two more battalions plus a few extras to complete the regiment

Support company command stand. For some reason the red I used for their berets turned out a bit brighter than the last lot, so I might try and dull them down a bit at a later date

Rangers

Tiger Revamp

Here is my Tiger collection, a mixture of 1/72 & 1/76, different manufacturers, different paint schemes

The kits that are 1/72 I'd like to have all in this type of paint scheme, which will have a later war appearance

So, having started, here are a couple of pictures of the finished 1/76 company, done in an earlier war scheme

These were all bone-yard tanks that have enjoyed some minor sprucing up and a new coat of paint and decals

I think these might be Matchbox or Airfix? I've been told one of them never made the Tiger but can't remember which

Took a short trip south over the holidays to play a FoW game with Gerard Davey and Andrew Dempster, here are a few pictures from this encounter. All of the kit on display is Andrew's.

Part of a ruined city which became a major contest for both sides later in the game

Ably supported by these assault guns

Some of the opposition's kit moving up; mostly Cromwells

Panzergrenadiers taking cover. They got pretty good field position early on but could not move forward until their armoured support arrived

The photos don't really show the superb level of painting on these figures, Andrew's stuff is simply awesome to look at

Roughly left of centre, Shermans taking casualties from a mixed company of PzIII & IVs just out of shot

This unit played a crucial role linking my flank with centre

This is the unit that did most of the damage for me

Can't remember what these are but they were on the receiving end of my tank destroyers from start to finish

My reinforcements bringing up the centre after the company just behind them started to look a bit shaky

My Tiger unit took hits but stayed in the fight throughout, here is the surviving tank moving in to support the Panzergrenadiers

The infantry took a few casualties but in the end secured the positions they were after in the Allies area of the city

A fast and furious game that the Germans ended up winning by a score of 8-1. Great fun, good company.

The Truth about Seoul

Captured ROK Army photographs reveal the true extent of the North's glorious reunification of the capital

The NKPA control about 3/4 of this part of the city

Victorious militia units supported by armour (note the complete absence of the decadent western allies)

Militia RHQ resolutely defending their command positions, some minor sideways tactical movement was necessary to give the ROK the illusion of progress and thus lure them into an easy false sense of security

More left flank militia units enjoying some rest time from the fighting

Members of the militia Penal Battalion putting the boot into US airborne troops; many of whom had to be dragged out of cellars, sewers and other generally low-lying areas

Elite NKPA airlanding units hurry to catch up with the action

These will be added to the NKPA Tank Museum after the capital's liberation

We've played about 16 turns of this game and have agreed to open up the other half of the table to our reinforcement units, stay tuned...

Seoul 85 continued

A few pictures from the campaign, this game is up to about turn 11 or 12 and has quite a few more in it before a result can be decided

The crucial ROK/US centre, casualties were getting high by this stage

Paul's right flank gets hit from in front and behind, figures are Esci conversions and Imex

Allied far left. Battalion HQ

Another NK attack on the US positions is repulsed

ROK conscripts mount a determined assault on the NK Regimental HQ. The North lost a couple of platoons and were forced out of their positions

However, so were the conscripts. The survivors morale was shattered so it will be at least another three turns before they can rejoin the fray

Northern troops link up with the armour, and the US/ROK right flank is history

Paul's main position in the middle of the table is almost surrounded

With the railway yards secure the North bring in their reinforcements, a veteran air-landing battalion supported by gunships

The last of the organized US/ROK troops preparing for the next few turns. More in a week or so...

Been planning to rebase my British Paratroops for a while, and here is some progress with that project, as usual spare figures donated by Paul

Most of the Revell figures will get Esci heads, and I'll try to add slings to as many figures as I can for a bit of variety

This one has since been rejected owing to the size match of the donor arm once fitted; the officer's pose will be retained but another arm option is yet to be decided

I plan to repaint the whole lot also, so this project my take some time.

These were in the stash sent to me by Nate, most had already been undercoated or had a base coat applied

They might see the odd Cold War game but are really a little late for my main areas of interest

Quite nice figures, though perhaps closer to 1/76 than 1/72

Based for CD Cold War, each stand represents a platoon, or troop in this case

I might look to get a few more of these figures just so I can field a full battalion if ever needed. Just some minor finishing required, I might yet have these finished by the end of the weekend.

Have posted this one before

I intend to tidy it up a bit as it is one of the favourites of my collection and in need of a revamp in several areas.

I hope to get the time to work on it over the weekend, and have already sorted out a few spare bit and pieces from the spares box

I got this a long time ago when working in Eastern Europe where it provided a much needed distraction from some difficult work. I may even change its colour to Russian Green, and if that works out, then my T28s might get a going over also

This kit, though a welcome addition, had some serious flaws. Several parts would not line up no matter how hard I tried, and a couple of parts were so badly warped as to be unusable, notably the smoke launchers

Still. it will do for gaming and I now have two of them. I modelled this one unbuttoned as I may convert it to a command vehicle if I can find a suitable crew figure

A very tidy kitset for it's age, zero flash and well engineered

Everything was undercoated on the sprue. I didn't have any of the box colours, so had to settle for as close as I could get with what I had

The yellow wing flashes will get another going over as I'm going to buy some brighter colours for the odd time like this

Recently, more or less, completed. PSC, not as nice as the PzIVs but certainly quite good all the same

First option, T34/41. Each vehicle got a slightly different paint job to the others

Option two, T34/85. The gun is perhaps a little bigger than I expected

Great wargames models, simple and quick to assemble, and very robust

This one got a medium black wash

I used the lighter of the two Vellejo Russian Greens for these ones but don't think I'll use it much on vehicles again, maybe infantry though

Decals from the spares bag. Including my old Airfix ones I now have almost half a battalion of T34s.

These are very good wargaming kits. They are well engineered, have only 24 parts, and you get a couple of different options

The completion of these gives me two companies of PzIVs in my collection now; one early-mid, the other mid-late

The company command platoon got one of my last two Preiser figures as the ones that come with the kits are, to my mind, a little chunky

Took a while to finish them owing to a fairly heavy work load at present.... and because we started playing the Tomb Raider series on our PS1 all over again... :)

Reasonable uniformity, I'm happy with them. These are excellent kits and great value for money.

Great little models these, well overdue in plastic

Have been trawling E-Bay looking for a Gloster Meteor, and in so doing have been amazed by the amount of supposedly "Pro-painted" things there are to choose from, which to me begs the question... says who? Is this a recent thing or have I just been missing something? The prices seem absurd given the quality of work I see everyday on the Blogs of others, and yet none of those I frequently draw inspiration from claim to be "Pro" anything. Would certainly be interested to hear your thoughts.

Europe 1952

An Anglo-Soviet encounter game set in 1952. The reds (Paul) fielded three tank companies and four infantry battalions, The British (Me) two and three respectively. The Communists also enjoyed air superiority, though Brits had air-landing capability. All units started the game on cards and the actual models were not placed on the table until they were spotted by enemy forces - both sides had a number of dummy cards, which confused things further

About turn four. Early clashes on the outskirts of a village on the British left flank.

Far left, about the same time. The Russian side had more formed roadways than the British, so they move a lot faster

A couple of turns later. Both sides deployed their air units, the Soviets a Mig15 and Il-10, the British their helicopters, which fortunately avoided the jets

A good move for the Brits, two companies of infantry take a control of the village and bridge directly behind the main Soviet force

Completely ignoring the enemy to their rear the Russian begin to take hold of the village outskirts. This picture shows the fighting around the British RHQ anti-tank gun position, which had already claimed one IS2

Turn 7 and the fighting had moved further into the village. Several British units had suffered major casualties, and the position was only held thanks to the arrival of some engineers. Next to the IS2 is a very nervous regimental commander

More British infantry. This unit secured the end of the bridge at the midway point, the Soviet right flank was now hemmed on three sides but the game didn't go long enough for this advantage to be realised

British right, the Comets destroy a T34/85 platoons and send another two towards the rear with broken morale; sounds good but the British had lost two Centurions the turn before

This tank company basically drove from one end of the board to the other, saw no action and was not spotted. It was a powerful unit the ended up well behind British lines

Extra river crossing point created the British bridging engineer unit, in the event neither used nor needed

A good game that may have got interesting for both sides had it gone longer. It basically ended up a draw with both players claiming solid table advantage but in scattered or isolated areas.

Doing this first one as a bit of an experiment, had some minor problems with the side and turret shields but think it was more me than the model parts. This one is about half finished

The pictures I found of this gun showed them both with and without mudguards. I went for without as the only ones I had are from the Airfix 88 set and not a good match

Figures are Airfix and Matchbox, with ACTA heads and rifles, the loaders arms are from the Esci WW2 French set. The rifle is made from spare bits and pieces

Of dubious anti-tank capability at all but the shortest of ranges, we'll see how it fairs this weekend.

Skoda Mountain Gun

Went to start on my 4.5' Howitzers the other day only to discover that one of them was this little item, which is okay because I have a modest WW1 Austrian collection

This effort by HaT is a nice model with good detail, done in a hard plastic; unlike previous efforts from this company

Painted with Vallejo Field Blue and a light black wash; some minor touching up still to do around the wheels but otherwise complete

This pack-howitzer entered service in 1915 but its design dates back to 1911

Unfortunately all of my Austrian collection was painted a long time ago, and so owing to improved painting techniques the gun looks a lot better than the figures

Cold War Korea, game 3, part 2

Game 3 of 5, the NKPA continues its drive on Seoul

NKPA regulars moving up the only road leading to the ROK's positions. Here a couple of companies regather their morale after a brief but intense fire-fight with ROK platoons that were covering the withdrawal on this part of the battlefield

Helicopter gunship arrives to strafe NKPA militia units, and with no dedicated AA units the north could really only try to fend it off with small-arms fire, rather unsuccessfully as it turned out

Turn 6. Left flank, more militia units being ordered into the fray

Same turn, NKPA mortar platoons positioning themselves to provide direct fire support. Mortars usually have to be spotted for, but these units could all see their targets from this vantage point

ROK infantry moving towards cover, while retreating transports continue south in the background

ROK engineers wire the bridge for demolition as soft-skin traffic continues to retreat over it

About turn 7. The Cobra makes yet another passing run over NKPA militia units with decisive results

The results: two companies forced to withdraw about 500 meters with shattered morale. NKPA RHQ would spend the rest of the game trying to rally these units; figures are Imex, Korean War

NKPA militia MMG platoon firing at the attack helicopter, alas with little effect

Still about turn 7, militia units flank the main area of ROK resistance and attack a column light transport

Turn 8. NKPA mech-infantry move forward , while in the background more militia platoons are fed to the gunship

The last defensive position to be neutralised before the bridge. There were a lot of small unit actions going on all around this area, with the NPKA's superior numbers eventually gaining the best field position

Soviet 'advisor' units watch the NKPA tactics from a safe distance; figures are Airfix

NKPA left flank. The second regular infantry battalion musters for an assault on the bridge having dealt to their ROK opposition

More NKPA regulars supported by militia over-run a warehouse that the ROK had been using as a forward command post area

The rear of that position, and the last defended position in front of the bridge. A single tank platoon and a company of infantry was about all the ROK could scrape together here for a last-ditch stand

Extreme right of the communist line. NKPA militia units loot and burn the transport column that was caught before it could escape across the river, and the mech-infantry company threw itself towards the bridge, now only 1000 meters distant

NKPA units including the only surviving tank platoon draw up in front of the bridge, too late to stop its destruction they contented themselves with firing into the backs of the, now safe, ROK. Despite being outnumbered and mostly out-gunned the game went pretty much the way of the South. The NKPA lost most of its armour in the opening moves and lacked enough motorised transport to keep close to the retreating ROK, the result being that the South always had a reasonable gap between itself and the NKPA hordes. A great game that played out really well and matched the campaign outline perfectly. Next up, the battle for Seoul.

Cold War Korea

A few pictures from the third game of our Korea 85 campaign

North Korean armour on the only road leading into the South's positions.

ROK infantry formed blocking positions wherever they could, this one is about half way down the battlefield

NKP regulars on the extreme left of their line. These are some of Paul's very good conversions and are a mixture of Esci and Revell figures

About turn three, the North records its only kill against ROK armour but in so doing lost an entire company in this exchange

Ignoring heavy artillery fire Northern regulars begin to put pressure on the ROK's reserve positions. By this time the NKPA had lost most of its armoured support but the terrain didn't really suit armoured operations anyway, so they were always going to play a secondary role to the infantry

After five turns the ROK was still holding fairly good positions but were beginning to look decidedly stretched. The NKPA infantry continued to surge ahead despite have no armoured support left, and it will be interesting to see how the action around the crucial centre positions go from here on. Hopefully we can conclude this battle later in the week.

Cold War German Armour?

A few years ago I read a magazine article about WW2 British and US tank crews learning to operate German vehicles in case they ever had to use them against the Soviets, so these models might see some table-time for games up until the early 50s

No idea of their armour or guns yet, but am guessing something akin to a Hetzer?

In CD these will count as having casemate weapons, which means they cannot be positioned hull-down

It looks as though one lot was based on a Panther chassis, the other a Hetzer or possibly a PzIII

Would be interested to hear the rationale behind the manufacture of these as there is nothing comparable that I am aware of in this scale, and they seem a bit of a strange choice. Your thoughts?

This is the second battalion of these I've been working on, and should have enough figures to complete an entire regiment. Painted with Vallejo English Uniform, and Citadel washes. Mostly ACTA figures.

1950-80s Russians

Bit of a test post this one

These are about half finished, and I've actually got, more or less, a complete regiment to this stage. This is one company from that unit. The Esci officer had his base removed for a better height match with his Airfix subordinates

Another company from a different battalion. This one has a command machine gun platoon; certainly unusual by WW2 standards. Figure size a consideration still, I went with the Hong Kong copy figure because it was a better height match, crude figure at best!

One of the mortar platoons, bases removed but still larger than anything else. Will see how login and comments go, and hopefully show you a few more bits and pieces from of my recent cold war additions.

Cold War Game

Got together with Paul last night to play a sideline game in our mini campaign. An Anglo Australian raid on an island, home to a dirty weapons plant, located underneath the central building areas (WMDs). The game featured an amphibious assault supported by a helicopter force, which included a gunship. Paul commanded the coalition forces, I had the NKPA

The main area of the weapons plant and the overall objective of the raiding force

Southern end of the island. The defenders were low-grade static guards of poor quality morale, except one company of the NKPA's veteran NBC troops

Northern end. This is part of the harbour defenses was part of the British objective

Northern end, Commando trained Australians on their start line

Southern end, Royal Marines on theirs

Turn One, the Aussies land to minimal resistance and immediately formed up into their assault groups. The North Koreans inflicted a few casualties, but the Australian return fire almost forced them from their positions

43 Cmdo at the other end had a much harder time on their landing zone. Some platoons lost about a third of their strength the same turn they landed. Paul's Matchbox and Esci NATO figures

The landing continues with support units being airlanded on to the hill directly behind the main plant facility. In CD rules a helicopter can move, land, and then move again. Light AA fire proved ineffectual, the NKPA were now under attack from three sides, and the supporting gunship remained on station creating huge problems for the already shaky Korean morale

By the second fire phase of turn two, the NKPA had all but lost the southern end of the island. The NBC company had been mauled by the advancing Australians, and the company pictured here broke and ran after losing only about 10% of its strength

Turn three. The NBC company was still functional but had been forced from their positions

The NKPA had more ground to play with at this end of the island, managing to disengage and regroup, after inflicting reasonable casualties on the marines. The six marine platoons in the picture are on a front of about 600 meters in CD terms

About mid way through turn four. The Australian Commandos took quite a few casualties to the recently returned NBC troops

Here another Aussie company takes out the last of the North's AA defenses; such as they were

Abandoned NKPA positions around the harbour area

Broken and battered NKPA units had been making their way to the inner harbour area all game, as it was the only area safe from the helicopter gunship and the support units of the two attacking forces. Here members of 43 Cmdo secure this objective taking a couple of hundred prisoners in the process

End result. The entrance to the underground weapons plant swarming with Australian forces. A very good game for getting used to the rules for this period. Hopefully Paul will post a few pictures too as I didn't take half as many as I needed to for a decent write up.

Still, the first setback in the NKPA's glorious reunification of the South, off with some heads!

Still a way to go on this one before it's complete but here are a few pictures anyway

I made this one the command unit, same in every respect except for the addition of crew figures

The decals didn't quite go to plan

The crew chief is a converted pilot figure from the Esci set. The MG in the doorway come with the kit but there is nothing to mount it with, I used an old swing-mount from a half-track or something like that

Same paint work as the other but has yet to be dry-brushed and inked. Just one more to finish for my first and probably only helicopter unit

This is by Airfix, the Recovery set I think. It will mostly feature with my Allied stuff, and counts as a heavy truck which can carry three stands.

Esci launcher and Orion spotter. This weapon actually dates from the late 1960s so I'm not sure how much game time this stand will see

The launcher will most usually represent a RPG2 or something of that generation

First ever helicopter model complete. This is one in a flight of three that I will eventually have, and plan to use pilots and a crew chief on the last to distinguish it as the command unit.

As mentioned earlier this particular example dates from the 1960s. However, for gaming it will fill for 1950s-1980s. Left of quite a few parts that I thought would give a too modern appearance

I've got a reasonable selection of decals to choose from but will just use numbers and letters because I want to them to have a sort of multi-national look. These ones are off an old bomber or something like that. I see storage being a problem with these things!

7.5cm Pak

This is the Pak that comes with the Fujimi PzJI

A very tidy little model this, it went together really well and like all the other parts in the kit had no flash and was well crafted engineering wise

I have two others of this model, both by Revell, but theses are camouflaged. I did this to add to my early war collection even though they were relatively few in number at that stage (over 20,000 were eventually produced).

Being unable to obtain any figures for this period, this is the latest attempt. In this company all of the figures are a cross between Esci WW2 Russian Infantry and Modern Russian Paratroopers. First up, the command platoon

This is the second one of these I have now and a very good addition it is too

About 40 parts, well engineered and no flash

I cut out the turret hatch and included a crew figure from the spares box

Some minor tidying up still to do on the black lining and tracks but otherwise complete

This seems to be a difficult model to get hold of, and eventually I'd like one more so as to have a full company of three

This is the first one of these that I did whilst living in Asia. Its paintwork has had a little touch-up also
