What was left of the Russian recon battalion was then obliged to take on the Stugs, with fairly predictable results :(

This is some of Dave's force (heavy tank battalion) about to be committed, tanks and figures by Pegasus. We used naval infantry figures just to give them a run, they use the normal Russian infantry stats

Some of Paul's engineers testing the defenses in the center of the board, though this position was never seriously attacked owing to its minefield and entrenched infantry, supported by AT guns and artillery it was a formidable defensive position

Russian units were being broken and rallied in a factory-like manner all night :)

These bad boys ran out of ammo, and still there were targets

The Russians gain a little ground back over at the farm area with the arrival of the T70s, and some additional infantry support

On the edge of the village, big slug-fest

Busy boys all night, guns are by unimodel (thanks Tim) figures are apparently by Mars 

Just inside the village, German infantry begins to arrive in strength

Infantry gun company, the 150 is by Caesar, Matchbox truck to the rear

We only played about 15 out of the 18 turns allocated, but great time had by all.

Preparations underway for games week 2013, the last to be held in this location

The first game will be Ponyri Station and the map to its north east, essentially two games at the same time

The new table is nearly fifteen feet long, which can accommodate two maps

This unit is probably more mid war organized, later ones tended to be less mixed

Another useful addition. These can run in singles, or companies but usually they are part of a recon battalion which includes motorcycles and cavalry

A couple of late arrivals

Usually at this time of the year I'd be preparing for games week, which is still happening I'm just woefully unprepared for it.

 Twentieth Century Wargames is moving to Australia in about three weeks and boy does the house look like it! Will try to at least finish the Hudson plus one or two other items in progress before I go, but either way will keep you posted.

Christmas Haul

These are the models my girls got me this year. The helicopter will be a nice addition to my Korean War collection, while the other two will be early war ones. Particularly chuffed with the Morane Saulnier fighter as it is my only French aircraft to date

The crew figure options look like a better scale match this time, the ones for the T34 were behemoths

Stalled

This is where I'm at. I had high high hopes for this kit but alas the engineering has some ugly faults

It has had some sanding and scraping here and there, and I used Liquid Green Stuff to plug a few gaps

Still another undercoat to do before detailing, but work is pretty demanding this time of the year so it will have to wait until the weekend for more work. This was made in 2005, which is why I thought it would be a good un
