Actually, should read... world's worst undercarriage assembly ever!
Each one of these parts has had to be repaired owing to (serious) previous damage
Why Airfix had to make them this way instead of one-piece is totally beyond me? Having such an intricate assembly puts unnecessary stress on certain parts!
Monster mashed but together :)
Its here to test you Al. I can feel the wind being sucked out of your sails from here!
ReplyDeleteGood progress I reckon mate.
good job!
ReplyDeletei agree with you: sometimes model kits are unnecessarily complicated.
bye
Cheers you two, I suppose I could say it's all downhill from here :)

ReplyDeleteI think!
H-P 400 is a very old molds.
Maybe of 40-45 years.
Maybe after this it is time to try some nice and cosy new moulds. Trust me after a couple of the thunderbolts it took me about 5 trucks and tanks to build a plane again!
ReplyDeleteI hear you Harry, sometimes modeling mojo just isn't quite there
DeleteOne that I remember well;
ReplyDeleteThe bomb was very large, the model like a space rocket...
Correct Maxi, many of the parts of this kit basically crumble to the touch, hence all the repairs I've made. The bomb, like you recall, is very sci fi looking
Delete"More parts is more good" I think. I've started to notice a lot of these older kits are far more complex than necessary for the results.
ReplyDeletehave to agree with you on that one mate, you damn near need to be a draughtsman just to read the plans for the 0400!
