Airfix Scammell Tank Transporter

Very happy to add this classic Airfix kit to my collection, a big boy!

Painted with Vallejo colours and Citadel washes

Its previous owner had been none-too-fussy with construction and I have finished it off as best I could, without damaging it any further  

I have absolutely zero spare parts and zero decals of any kind with me over here; which is a bummer as I wouldn't mind repainting a few of early war British and French AFVs. The only ones you get with this kit are a few numbers

Not sure how much games table action this will see but I'm glad I have it; a very cool model for $1

Zombies and the Good Life

A bit of progress with the painting up of this fantasy stuff...

All painted with various shades and mixes of military colours and all now at the final touch-up stage

The last of the bad guys. Thought I'd have finished the lot a long time ago but I'm having too much fun working half the hours I used to for twice the money; the move has been excellent therapy thus far :) :) :)

The Repair Shop

A couple of quick pictures to show the amount of work in front of me...

These boxes occupied the bottom tier of my pack when I moved here, and accounted for fully 1/3 of my total gear load, much to the amusement of the wife :)

Most of it came through reasonably unscathed

This box, however, took several critical hits and I have a few hours work ahead to repair broken barrels, etc. Will hopefully put A into G early next week and during the upcoming holidays and have some genuine progress to show you all 

Something completely different

Decided the game pieces would look better in colour. Haven't painted any fantasy stuff for a very long time, but it's kind of hard to go wrong with zombies :)

I used white undercoat to make them all just a little bit brighter; most of my paint colours are military

Lastly a couple of the hero characters, small town sheriff with torch and revolver, accompanied by incredibly hot, buxom nurse toting a pump action shotgun. Think I might order a few metal 28mm miniatures to add some more variety.

The game was from my wife and the aircraft from my daughter; slowly building up some modelling and painting material - thanks girls :)

Aussie Acquisitions

Right. I finally have a place to live, some wheels, a new Jiu Jitsu dojo, and a part-time job, but most importantly an internet connection; which is no mean feat in itself given that all internet providers over here think that if you live outside one of the big cities, then by default you count as living rural!

 Anyway, a trip to the local toy shop produced these Gurkhas which I have never had before; might turn a few into WW1 figures if I can find some HaT ANZACs to use as donor figures

Next, another first for me, this cool heavy truck. I've wanted one since my mate Paul over at http://plasticwarriors.blogspot.com.au/?view=classic did one ages ago. Its previous owner has already started it but that doesn't matter. Back to regular blogging! Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Historical gaming with the Warlords...

Another trip to the Warlords this week saw the introduction of historical gaming as part of my grand scheme to convert them all eventually to CD3

Most of the clubs scenery kit is for fantasy gaming but I found a few bits and pieces that didn't look too out of place for an early war clash between German and French forces

Mixed Pz35 & 38t company advance across open country on their extreme right flank

Two rifle companies supported by an anti-tank gun platoon race to intercept them

Blocking positions. Gun by Early War Miniatures, crew is Esci & HaT, Lorraine is a scratch build from model maker extraordinaire Gerard Davey of Hokitika

German left, Matchbox PzII & PzIII company supported by infantry, also Matchbox

This company secured some high ground in the middle of the board and spent the rest of the game fending of German assaults by infantry and armoured cars

Turn 4. The French left begins to bend as casualties mount; figures are by Pegasus

Same turn saw a very determined German attack on the French center

Which resulted in one of the few French AFVs (weak in this case) being forced from the fight

Turn 5. Despite damage to most of their tank companies the Germans secure the road objective, and additionally squeeze the French into a tight perimeter around the high ground in the middle of the board

End game, shattered French left. The game went well with a lot of actions across the board, and three new players blooded in the rules for historical gaming. Great stuff all round.

The Maryborough Warlords

A short drive with my mate Shane the other night landed us at the door of The Maryborough Warlords. There I met a great bunch of like-minded gamers, and took a few snaps to show you all...

They have several large tables which can be used for any type of tabletop and wargames

I was introduced to this card game, and was interested enough to now be on the look-out for a couple of starter packs

My first game of Magic, The Gathering in progress. I had a great time, and next week plan to take some of my historical stuff to introduce to the club. I only had room for a few bits and pieces in my pack but have enough for a small game of CD3. Will do a post for you next week to show you how I got on.
