2nd Battalion BEF, completed

Finally finished the 2nd Battalion for my early war British collection

Command platoons

The majority of the figures are from the most excellent Zevezda range, though there are a couple from Airfix and Revell in the mix also

This is the battalion support company

I managed to achieve a reasonable amount of variation with the figures and their poses, and I will try to apply similar practice to the creation of the third battalion.

Road Trip pics

A few pictures from my recent trip to New South Wales...

Fort Scratchley was built during the 1880s' to protect Newcastle from (at that time) a possible Russian attack

As history would have it, the fort did not see active service until June 1942 when it engaged a Japanese submarine which attacked the harbour area and the industry around it

The tour through its subterranean galleries is quite cool 

This is fired everyday at noon

This Matilda II is located in Singleton NSW and saw service in New Guinea.

Italeri - US Half Tracks

Finished these yesterday

Nice little models, well engineered, and no flash

All of about ten parts each, very good wargames models

Partly undercoated on sprue

Vallejo Dark Green, black wash, then two stages of lighter dry-brushing

Decals from the spares bag. I usually leave nation markings off this sort of kit so that the Russians can use them as well; made an exception with these

Could easily pimp these up a bit more, but they'll do for now. I have enough of these to mount two companies of US Armoured Infantry. Nice kits, x2 for $20.

A New Sabre

Great paitwork all round, a really authentic looking finish. It needs some minor panel beating owing to the usual perils of the international postage service, but nothing too major 

This is a cool addition to my Cold War aircraft collection. Quite a few scenarios from this era allow the NATO player additional jet fighter elements owing to the western allies superiority in this area at that time.

A visit to Col's

This model is quite simply outstanding, the effort and attention to detail impressive

Col has an excellent figure collection too. Some of these are very rare, and hopefully he will post some more pictures with details in the not-too-distant-future

Plastic Soldier T70 Russian Tank

Another excellent set of models from this imaginative little company...

Well engineered, everything fits well, and you get a couple of crew figures if you want to add a little more detail; as always, the crew figures on my models designates a command platoon

Armed with a 45L56 and one machinegun

In service between 1942-48. 

Taking the Daytona on a road trip to NSW, back in a week or so.

Jungle Scenery

Had these for a while and forgot about them, some jungle terrain made by Dave's daughter Emma...

You don't have to spay them but it helps take the gloss plastic look off the leaves, etc

Basing

This size area would shelter one or two platoons in CD scale
