S-Model Nebelwerfers

A few pictures of some of Dave's latest work in progress

Tidy enough looking kits, and very well engineered too it seems

Dave usually does stuff in batches like this as you've seen before

A battery of these is x2 models in CD terms. These are very powerful units, especially against infantry as they have a large area effect and pretty much eliminate anything soft they hit

Will update with painted pictures including crew as soon as my old mate sends them through for you. I think Esci did a set of these with crew in winter smocks?  Long since unavailable but Paul or Tim will know for sure :)

1960-80s British Infantry

My order has finally arrived! A while ago when me and my friends Dave and Paul were looking to get into some Cold War gaming I went searching for suitable infantry figures and found these http://20thcenturywargames.blogspot.co.nz/2011/05/mystery-set.html

Apparently they were not available and not likely to be any time soon. And so, I went with these instead http://20thcenturywargames.blogspot.co.nz/2011/06/cold-war-british-infantry.html

Well, now I have the lot and can represent all manner of British Infantry from 1950-1990s. I didn't know about the Britain's Deetail figures at the time, but now I know that these were originally 1/32

Nicely detailed figures with very minimal flash

I've only done a couple of companies because I want to mix the figures with some Matchbox NATO paratroops, if I can get some...?

A couple of the figures have rank stripes on their sleeves and I may attempt to highlight these on a few of them later

A Company

I spent a lot of time trying to get the camouflage right, which was very difficult considering I spent half my adult life wearing the stuff!

The grenadier poses

B Company

A couple of pictures taken in brighter light to show you the DPM

All of them need to be touched up now around their bases, neck lines and berets but are more or less finished. I used only Vallejo paints for this project

These first few are, of course, Marines :)

Finished, the Zombies

Bit of a burst while watching the Walking Dead the other night...

All painted with variations of military colours, mostly Vallejo and Citadel

Looking to collect the expansion sets now and pick up a few metal figures for my Zombie Heroes, so will check out the comic shop when I go to Brisbane next month to meet and listen to my favourite fantasy author Raymond E Feist.

A couple of pictures from Dave

Been a while but here are a couple of pictures of Dave's recent Great War game

A small set-up by the look of it; a game with his kids :)

Infantry on their start-line, ANZACs I think

I've asked Dave to send some more pictures of what he's been up to, and will post them up for you as soon as he does.

Zombie Game: The Heroes

Finally finished the heroes...

The guy on the left needs his face repainted but otherwise is a cool looking figure

Haven't quite finished this one

Group photo. Have quite enjoyed painting these 28mm figures for a change, and I plan to add a few metals in the future to represent other characters

BEF machinegun units

A couple of finished machinegun platoons to show you

Same great sculpting as the infantry figures

Only missing the cooling can, which I may yet add on future builds

Quite a powerful unit in CD terms, the British have very few infantry support units compared to other nations of the same era

Still the mortar, anti-tank gun and Bofors sets to get. So cool to finally have BEF figures to add to my collection :)

Finished BEF figures

Managed to finish a couple of companies during the week...

 A Company Command platoon

Complete company, based for CD3

B Company Command platoon

Will be even more particular with the Liquid Green Stuff in the gaps with my next batch of figures

All painted with Vallejo paints and Citadel washes

This has always been my favourite period of interest for gaming and collecting, and it is awesome to finally have some great 1/72 scale figures in plastic

For gaming, especially with armour, I think a lot tactics get lost as weapon ranges increase with years. Movement, field, and fire position in the early war years keep opposing forces closer.
