Chieftain

I have two of these that will do for an under-strength company, once I get the other one finished

This came to me in the box of goodies from Nate

I did a lot of experimental paint work with this, it turned out okay but the next one will be done in a dark green

Can't see my cold war stuff going much past this era of kit, but you never know...

Dave's Russians

A few pictures of Dave's work in progress. Once complete it looks like he will have two CD3 Russian infantry regiments, including one of Guards.

Converted anti-tank rifle figures

MMGs from the HaT WW1 set

These will form LMG or possibly weapons platoons

The donor figures for that combination

Another MMG option, for variety

A couple of painted examples

Russian Guards formations have both 82 and 120mm mortar platoons

Some different figure combinations

Guards regiment, about 3/4 finished by the look of it

Standard infantry regiment, similar to a Guards one, just not quite so many supporting elements

More Russian Trucks

A couple more additions from the master scratch-builder, Gerard Davey of Hokitika

These ones are covered which is a nice touch that adds a bit of variety, wheels from the Airfix 88mm set

The full fleet

Cold War British Infantry

This is the second battalion of these I've been working on, and should have enough figures to complete an entire regiment. Painted with Vallejo English Uniform, and Citadel washes. Mostly ACTA figures.

Battalion command stand, for CD this represents a group of between five and ten men

Mortar platoon, Matchbox figures with head-swaps

LMG platoon, unfortunately not the same scale as the others, part of several such equipped figures sent to me last year from Ireland

Most figures in this unit had backpacks added for variety

One of the company command platoons, no idea what set the figure on the right comes from, couldn't find any reference to it on PSR. Anyway, it had a SLR so off with its head

A before shot of a platoon which includes a modified figure

And after

A platoon from the fourth line company wearing NBC kit

The full fourth company in NBC kit

DShK AAMG

Not my best work this. Had run out of the glue I normally use and the substitute had an awful reaction with the plastic. Still it will do for gaming

In service by the late 1930s and apparently still in use

I originally planned to use this just for WW2 games but have since decided it will feature in cold war ones as well

Quite good figures with reasonably good detail, a useful addition to a collection I think.

Pictures taken back in the days when we had sun

Scorpion

Just needs a wash and a bit of tidying up, this was another of the items Nate sent me

An Airfix kit, made and undercoated, all I had to do was finish it off, nice

The decals are from a truck kit and the Mk VIb

This brings my number of cold war tanks to three, the other two being Chieftains.

Russian Fedrals

This is another project that I've got on the go for inclusion in my cold war collection. The figures and a whole swag of other goodies arrived to me from Nate over at http://ndcblog.wordpress.com/, will show the rest of it down the track. Do check out his site, huge variety of gaming material.

Orion figures in highly original and imaginative poses. For CD, this will count as a recon-patrol stand - the addition of dogs in the unit increases spotting ability

The camouflage is not particularly accurate but will do

The light hasn't done me any favours but we haven't seen the sun here for a while now, the joys of living in a rain forest!

All at about the 3/4 finished stage.

Recent Arrivals

The Airfix and ACTA sets are for my cold war British collection. For the 4.5s, I'd like to do two batteries, one each for the First and Second World Wars. Haven't quite finished the Airfix Russians I'm working on as I got sidetracked with another small project, show you soon.

1950-80s Russians

Bit of a test post this one

These are about half finished, and I've actually got, more or less, a complete regiment to this stage. This is one company from that unit. The Esci officer had his base removed for a better height match with his Airfix subordinates

Another company from a different battalion. This one has a command machine gun platoon; certainly unusual by WW2 standards. Figure size a consideration still, I went with the Hong Kong copy figure because it was a better height match, crude figure at best!

One of the mortar platoons, bases removed but still larger than anything else. Will see how login and comments go, and hopefully show you a few more bits and pieces from of my recent cold war additions.

and still there are problems...

Still can't comment on any Blog including my own, login issues, etc, etc. Have switched to the laptop with little noticeable improvement.
