British Bridging Engineers

Could have done with a little more attention to detail but they'll do for a start

I still need to make another platoon plus a command section

These will suit any era of WW2 and several different theatres

Already have the transport for this unit, just need to improve a couple of things. In CD3 bridging engineers are usually found in scenario or campaign maps, but are occasionally included with larger engineer formations as well. Bridges can be built during games but can take a lot of time, depending on the obstacle to be bridged. I once played a cold war game with Paul where it took my engineers nine turns to build a bridge out of a ten turn game!

Toyworld Score

Haven't seen this one before, picked it up yesterday from the local toystore

I've got other projects on the go just now so have added this one to the stash

It has nice detail, you get jeep, gun, trailer plus a few accessories, AUD$15

Something new from Airfix, I am thinking?

Command Matilda I

x2 more SHQ Matildas, bringing my total of these to four

I filed off the closed hatch details and added my own, then mounted a figure (Matchbox) in the turret

Decals from the spares bag. I even went all out on this one and included the headlights and exhuast :)

In early war formations these were often mixed in with Matilda II companies and saw a lot of fighting during the Battle of France. Heavily armoured if not armed by the standards of the day; out of service by late 1940. One of my all time favourites.

Trees

A few pictures of the detailed trees I got for Christmas

Mounted on coins. Quite difficult to base these, a few slipped sideways but they'll do for now

These ones have wire trunks, way heavier than anything else in my collection

The really big ones. Will need to spend a bit of time on these.

1940-43 Soviet Naval Infantry

Out of storage for a bit of a touch-up. Most are the very tidy Pegasus figures, x2 battalions

Command section, NKVD platoon, x2 weapons platoons and 50mm mortar platoon

1st Company

2nd

3rd

Second battalion, command

1st Coy

2nd Coy

3rd Coy

Could easily expand this to 1939-45 if I got some more figure and support weapons, which I might look to later on. This unit is featuring in the big game coming up in a few days time, stay tuned.

4D Models

Thought I'd show you all a closer look at these 4D models the girls got me. They are from China, you get x8 models in each, WW2 and Cold War vehicles from a random selection of nations, about ten parts per kit, the jury is still out on just about every thing else about them :) Oh yeah, x8 models for about AUD$17 including postage

Anyway... here is the Tiger I

As you can see, the picture reference doesn't quite much the actual detail on the model, but is there or there abouts...

I don't have another plastic Tiger I to compare it against, but here it is next to a PzIII (which I'm not sure is 1/76 or 1/72) and a Esci PzI

Here's the StugIIIg

The only other assault gun I have to compare it with is this Trumpeter StugIIIb, looks like the super structure is bigger than 1/72 in this case! The road wheels are not ever close to accurate but hopefully I'll find some spares in my bone-yard to attempt a fix-up on this problem - most of the kits have this lower half representation, the exception at this stage being the Tiger I

As the holidays progress and I get a bit of down time with these I'll show you what I come up with. Also, Games Week this year will be in week two or three, because right now I'm hanging out with the girls, theme parks, zoos, movies, etc.

Best wishes to all this year.
